Program Notes
Producer's Note from the program
Welcome Children of All Ages,
Roald Dahl’s books have always entertained me as a child, and James and the Giant Peach is certainly no exception. There is just something about the whimsicality of this show that makes it such a joy tobe apart of. This experience as producer has been so transformative for me, inmore ways than one. Just as I am beginning to transition into adult life as a college student, I was pushed to learn how to do many adult things as producer- taking charge of large groups, managing the time of others, and demonstrating professionalism. As much as performing on stage will always hold a place in my heart, producing the 51st season production for PQPC has taught me more about the inner workings of theatre and myself than any other show I’ve been apart of, and I have many people to thank for that.
First and foremost, my directing staff deserves all my gratitude! Allyson is an outstanding collaborator and as general director she was always willing to take new ideas with an open mind, a trait that makes her an absolute pleasure to work with. Hanna’s ability to calmly take the lead as choral director is so natural and effortless that it boggles my mind. Kiersten has such a kind and creative soul, which does nothing less than shine in her role as choreographer. As far as pit directors go, I have never met anyone as responsible and proactive as Ryan, needless to say that he surpassed my expectations immensely. Nick and Henry are my tech gods, and as a dynamic duo they knew what needed to be done before anyone even would think to ask them to do it. I cannot forget our production council! For a show as imaginative and unique as James and the Giant Peach, we needed a resourceful group of individuals to pull together show stopping costumes, hair and makeup, art, sound, and lighting. This year everyone really stepped up to the plate to contribute to this production. And of course, What would a musical be without its cast, pit, or stage crew? Everyone has worked tirelessly this summer and their dedication has not gone unnoticed! We had a very young company this year, full of many new members who bring the promise of a bright future for Quince.
Additionally, I have several others to express my sincerest appreciation for. I owe so much to my family for showing up to every show of mine throughout the years and putting up with my crazy energy. I would especially like to thank my mom for signing me up for the Capitol Civic Centre’s summer theatre camp and planting the seed for my love of theatre when I was in fourth grade. I would also like to thank everyone at Mishicot High School and their theatre department for fostering my passion and dedication to theatre through unwavering support. Lindsey Buss, Michelle Sheahan, and Beth Schoepp also deserve a great deal of credit for talking me into applying for producer in the first place! As past producer, Lindsey would never hesitate to give me her advice whenever an obstacle seemed to stump me. I would also like to thank my partner in crime, Cole Foster, for being my rock throughout this whole process and putting a smile on my face. Finally, I thank the audience. Whether you are an avid local theatre fan, a past Quincer, or the friends and family of our members, we would not be performing for our 51st season if not for our audience. Thank you and enjoy the show!
Quincerely,
Riley Seib

Director's Note from the program
Ladies and gentlemen, lovers of the arts, thank you for allowing us the opportunity to share with you our talents and hard work.
This year we are celebrating our 51st season of ‘keeping the dream alive’ with James and the Giant Peach. Although this is only my second year as a returning Quincer, I am beyond grateful for being given the opportunity to work with such an amazing group of young people. If you want to get technical, my theatrical journey began at around …two years old? I suppose that doesn’t lend much to credentials though does it? My first musical experience that I remember was with Treehouse Theatre in 2012. Since then I have been cast in 22 musical productions in the area and held variations of directorial positions in six others. James and the Giant Peach is a wonderfully wacky tale of a young boy who finds a true home where one would least expect it; inside a peach. This story takes us ‘Right Before Your Eyes’ and through the magnificent journey of James Henry Trotter. From being ‘On Your Way Home,’ to being stuck in
the ‘Middle of a Moment,’ through finding “Money on That Tree,’ or even Floatin’ Along’ the sea. Whether you are just beginning to wonder or if you know that ‘I Got You’, I think you will find a few ‘Plump and Juicy’ surprises along the way. I promise if you are not amused, we will send you back ‘On Your Way Home’, but know that you are always ‘Welcome Home’ here with Peter Quince.
Okay, all showtune puns aside, you should know that this production could never be a single person feat. This performance would not be possible without the amazing
ensemble of people behind the scenes. Before the show begins, I would like to take a moment to thank my fellow directors for the show. To Hanna, our very patient Vocal Director, Kiertsen, our always energetic Choreographer, Olivia, my jack-of-all- trades Assistant Director, Ryan, our Pit Director/ Vocalist, Nick and Henry, our ‘go with the flow’ Technical Directors/ Master Set Builders, Steph, our more than prepared Stage Manager, Elizabeth, her quick thinking Assistant Stage Manager, and Riley, our issue resolving/nothing she can’t do Producer! I also need to thank the wonderful cast, pit, and crew that brought the performance to life. Now, I’m sure I probably missed some people that ought to be appreciated and if I did I apologize. My point here is that this amazing production you are about to see would not have been possible without so many amazing people that should never go unrecognized.

With that said, sit back, relax, and I hope you enjoy our production of the not-so-classic tale, James and the Giant Peach!
