  • Man in Chair 
    -the narrator, provides the framework for the show within the show, non-singing, non-dancing
  • Robert Martin
    -the bridegroom, rich oil tycoon, portrayed by a notoriously "bad" actor, baritone
  • Janet Van de Graaf
    -the bride, famous Broadway star, giving up the stage for love, soprano with belt
  • George
    -the best man, terribly overwhelmed with planning the wedding, high baritone
  • Mrs. Tottendale
    -the hostess of the wedding, an adorable old lady who can't remember anything, soprano
  • Underling
    -the persnickety butler or manservant of Mrs. Tottendale, speaks his mind dryly, baritone
  • Gangster #1
    -One of a pair of gangster posing as innocent pastry chefs, Gangster #1 is more of the "brains," baritone
  • Gangster #2
    -The other of the pair.  Gangster #2 is a little slower on the uptake, baritone
  • Drowsy
    -The slightly Tipsy chaperone of the bride, carefree and whimsical, a diva, mezzo-soprano
  • Aldolpho
    -the Latin Lover, the King of Romance, played by the man of a thousand accents, baritone
  • Feldzieg
    -the Producer, trying to sabotage the wedding to save his neck, baritone
  • Kitty
    -a flaky chorus girl, flapper, trying to steal Janet's spotlight and win Feldzieg's approval, soprano
  • Trix
    -an Aviatrix, flies in on a plane and saves the day, mezzo-soprano with belt
  • Superintendent
    -speaking only (although will probably double in chorus), ruins the moment near the end of the show
  • Reporter #1 - some lines
  • Reporter #2 - a line
  • Ensemble (maids, butlers, guests, reporters, aviators, and monkeys) 
    -lots of singing, dancing, tapping, and monkey-business
