Program Notes
Producer's Note from the program
Hello and welcome to Peter Quince Performing Company’s 35th season. We are very happy that you all have come to see us this summer. This summer we are proud to present to you a wonderful production of Footloose.
When I first took this position last summer, I had no idea what I had gotten myself info. I never really understood how much work this position entailed. I realize now that producing a play is a lot of hard work, but I am very glad that I took this position.
I have had a lot of fun this summer working with all of my friends, and it feels good to have put on something like this. From production council meetings to practices, which I wish I have had been more involved with earlier this summer, I, and we as a whole, have had a wonderful time this summer. I hope you all have a great time watching, and maybe singing along to, our production of Footloose (just try not to sing too loud!).
Keep the dream alive,
Edward Michael Lewis, Producer
Director's Note from the program
Good evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome to Peter Quince Performing Company’s 35th season and our production of Footloose. I would like to extend a warm welcome to family, friends, sponsors, and patrons, the wonderful community of Manitowoc, and alumni. Without your continued support we would not be able to put on shows for you year after year.
When I started Quince back in 1999, I never thought that I would ever direct for Quince. But that is one of the great things about Quince. You get the chance to do things you wouldn’t be able to do with most local companies. You also get to meet many people that you probably would never meet if it weren’t for Quince. Some of my best friends I met in Quince. I truly believe that there is something magical about a group of kids ages 12-23 putting on a show and working together.
This season would have been a beast if it weren’t for the help of a lot of people. First of all, I would like to thank Mark, Cari, Kelly, and Darrick. I could not have picked a better directing staff to work with. We got to share a lot of experiences together through this summer and I am glad that we could share laughter together through difficult times as well. I would also like to thank my two assistants, Angie and Aaron. Angie, thank you for being there to read the prompt book for me. Also, thank you for listening to all my venting after a long night of rehearsal. Aaron, I’m very glad that you stepped into the assistant director position so late in the season. All of your input and ideas were greatly appreciated and I hope that you pursue directing for Quince in the future. I would also like to thank my sister, Missy, for putting up with me this summer and for coming up with some great one-liners that none of the cast will forget. You’re my girl Missy.
Finally, I would like to thank the cast and crew for all the hard work, dedication, and energy that you all put into this show. This show would not have been the same without any of you.
I hope that you all enjoy the show. So sit back, relax, and get ready to CUT FOOTLOOSE!
