Q: "What is Quince?" A: Peter Quince is a non-profit organization that exists to give kids 12 to 23 the opportunity to immerse themselves in all aspects of theatrical production. Peter Quince takes its name from Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream," in which Peter Quince, a carpenter, organizes his friends as an acting troupe to entertain the royalty. He worked under adverse conditions, much like most of us today.
Q: "How do you all run Quince by yourself, being so young?" A: It's all about working together and helping each other. Quince thrives on supporting each other and lifting one another up to work smoothly throughout each season. Communication is Key!
Q: "Do the oldest Quincers run everything and the youngest Quincers perform, or is it mixed?" A: Mixed, we try to get everyone involved in every aspect of the company as much as possible.
Q: "Is absolutely everyone actually under 23, even the producers and directors?" A: Yes, everyone in the company is under the age of 23. Once you turn 23 you are booted out and become an Alumni.
Q: "Since everyone is young, is this basically just a children's theater?" A: No it is not. Quince works hard every year to be as professional as possible.
Q: "What happens when you hit 23, you just can't do it anymore?" A: When you turn 23 you are no longer able to be a member of Quince. But as an alumni you can join the Quince Alumni page on facebook and stay in the loop of all things Quince. A lot of our alumni are very supportive. Some donate costumes, become a patron or sponsor, and come see the shows. So even though you are no longer a member you can still support and be apart of Peter Quince.
Q: "How do you become a member before the summer starts?" A: All you have to do is come to one of our meetings and pay the $5 membership fee. All meetings are posted on our facebook page or on our website at peterquince.weebly.com..
