I have many memories but my fondest is of being the bottom half of the giant Fruma Sarah in Fiddler On The Roof. Trying to balance Kathy on my shoulders and move about the stage in the scene was quite a challenge. I also remember taking Michael Keith's motorcycle for an unexpected ride at a weekend afterglow. He was quite excited! He'd have been even more excited if he'd found out it was the first time I'd driven one! I miss those days. Hey! If anyone knows how to get in touch with Jerry Kronberg please let me know. Thanks.

My memory. There is no possible way I could put even the slightest amount of my memories onto this page. There's so many to choose from.
After moving away from Manitowoc and after finishing my 9th and final year with Quince, I realized that the years I changed the most in my life, I was in Quince. For nearly half of my life, I had been dedicated to a company that brought in so many faces throughout the entire nine years. I was involved with the company from age 12 to 21--All through the awkward teen years, through the tears and the smiles and the inside jokes and the friendships. All through the high school and early college years, I had not only made friendships that would last a lifetime, but acquired skills I will someday use in my profession. If not for Quince, I would not be who I am or where I am today.
Each year holds their own capsules of memories--those which, in not taking up your entire page, I will never be able to summarize. I could go on and on about inside joke after inside joke--but I've realized that while the jokes have changed, the scenario has not--and that is what is most important.
There will always be the inside jokes. There will always be the hilarious incident that happened at rehearsal. There will always be the tears and the meetings to crab about the production. There will always be people who do not get along; People will cause fights. But there will always be people who are your soulmates; People who will be your friends for life.
Everyone's experience with Quince is different. I was brought in by my brother, while others too have siblings or friends or see one of the posters at their school or around town. I couldn't have asked for a better experience with this company. The hardest thing for me to do was to leave two years before my "time" in Quince had to be permanent. I couldn't have asked to end my "Quince career" with a better show, or having met so many amazing people over the years. For my "Why I love Quince Speech," I even had a few Alumni Quincers surprise me (my brother included), along with surprising me at the Producers Reception with memories from the past 9 years. It was amazing. With any other company or group, I would have never expected that. Quince is like family, and always will be. With my departure, I also received a PQPC plaque engraved with my name and season years, and my favorite costume that I wore when I played Ruth in "Wonderful Town"--the "Swing" dress, in a large picture frame that now proudly hangs in my bedroom.
Growing up with Quince, I don't know how my life would have been without it. It's all I ever knew--Do my daily routine, go to rehearsal at night, put on a great show at the end of the summer. Repeat for 9 years in a row. I credit Quince for my passion for the theatre and everything involved with it. Sure, I had done shows with other companies, but nothing else I've ever worked with before had let us put on a show by ourselves--and that was an amazing feeling. The best way to learn to do.
I will never let The Dream fade away--because no matter where my life takes me or what I do, there will always be Quince, and I will always have my memories.

Ryan I'm sorry that's really not what I meant in my message about dancing with you. You were a great dancing partner.
That would be so cool if you could have another party. They truly mean a lot. I know they do for me.
I'd just like to say thank you for all the great memories.
Miss ya all

You know, I'm very glad that my parties, etc., had such a great impact on Quince. Perhaps I could convince my parents to hold a reunion party this summer.
But I have a question. Why is it that every time dancing with me is mentioned in someone's memories, "had to" is always involved in the wording? Then again, maybe I don't want that question answered.

This past summer was my first year in Quince, and I never dreamed that one summer could change my entire life. I became a quincer because of my love of acting. I went into the auditions just regular old loud Gretchen, and came out of the last show with life long friendships, memories and a new look on life. Quince put me through a lot of crap though I must admit, but it was all worth it when I found myself, my true identity. When I started normal life after this summer nothing was the same. All I could think about was Quince. I thought that after awhile my yearning for the company would subside, but it hasn't. All I can think about is all the wonderful memories of Quince.

More memories to dream about...Quince has been the dream and experience that all young theater people should do. Even though at times, we may be looked as, as "just a bunch of kids", we're a bunch of "kids" who have had more fun in a summer of theater, then maybe some people have in a year. When I think of Quince, I smile. It makes me proud to say I'm a member of this company. When I think of Quince, I think of the Alumni (or Aloooomni as Neil would say) that I acted with....Ryan Clarksen, Kim (Pare) Clarksen, Travis Bernhardt (my wonderful brother), Sarah Herrman, Kari Wellner, and many, many more...These people make me smile, and bring joy to my heart...They make me proud to say I acted with them, and spent my summer with them, and shared memories that I'll forever be reminded of. All of Ryan's parties, the best in the world. Evil bunny, Truth or Truth, Walking in the woods, swinging on his swing, sumo wrestling, the fat TR cops, fireworks and the "beer" (which was really diet coke) staying up all night with Tom Staskal, Mark Quistof, and Nathan Petrashek, and many many more memories of those nights. I also remember Cast parties, at Sarah Herrman's house (the flood reunion parties, which I did not actualy attend the original FLOOD party), the TV stations, and Dress Weird Nights....Tyler in Drag in "Abner" and "Anything Goes"...I remember practicing in Abner outside in the church parking lot...I remember dancing with my brother Travis, when he was director...I remember painting set, on the capitol stage, and painting myself in so there was paint all around me and I couldnt get off of the eight foot platform in "High Society"...The list goes on, in my summer experiences with Quince. Quince is a dream; A dream that all theater people have. To "run" the place, to have a say in what goes on, to MAKE a great show. This is what Quince means to me, and my memories will last forever. Thanks to everyone who has been a part of the cast, crew, pit, supports, and even the audiences that have came to see the work that "a bunch of kids" did. Quince is an amazing thing.

Being a techie was the greatest experience of my life. Here are some individual memories...
To ty-watch that last step at army's
norah-tdtf
fuzzy-everything man, from the hole (you know what i'm talking about) to everything that happened in that possibly half hour between the show and that cast party last year
adam-keep your shirt on
ed-your "deflowering" at a certain gentlemen's establishment
cari-only the first year i was in, sorry to burst your bubble
naomi-taking in the sights under the platform, fuzzy knows what i'm talking about here
all the techies-the headset always has been, and always will be... a toy
wow...there's too many to remember, but in true techie style, non that can be listed on this page. TECHIES FOREVER!!!

Like everyone else I don't know where to start. I remember my first year in quince, I just remember I almost wasn't going to be in it. I was forced to audition by my sister Jamie, she came home and told me that they were holding an extra day of auditions because they needed more people so my mom practically forced me and I'm very glad she did that. When I went to the audition I was very nervous, I was shaking. When I found out that I made it and not just in the chorus I actually had a character and had lines I was so shocked. I remember Naomi and Norah being tenors, and I remember when I had to dance with Ryan during "Dog Patch". I was kind of nervous when I had to dance with him because it was only my first year but since everyone is so nice it doesn't really matter because they all have been through what you are experiencing. I can not pick out one favorite memory, because their are to many to choose from. But one that sticks out for "Abner" is dress weird night. Levi dressing up as a mime, Aaron in a dress, Ryan in fish-net stockings and so on. During "Anything Goes" was Ryan's party. We played truth or truth. It was so much fun, after we were done playing that game it was like we were all bonded together as one person, almost everyone was crying I know I was. And now from last year, I loved walking on the pier at night after rehearsals, and of course Ryan's party sumo wrestling it's so sad that he's not going to be there next year.
Thanks to quince I'm not as shy, for everyone who know's me I'm a very shy person but since I started acting I have opened up more and am not as shy. I met most of my best friends in Quince, Kim, Ryan, Travis, Sarah, Kari and the list goes on. I am just thankful that I had the opportunity and if you ever have a chance to do quince go for it because it will be the chance of a lifetime.

I am so glad to see the comments from new Quincers. I remember my first kiss, on the steps outside of a Quince rehearsal. Quince was my freedom, my place to grow up and explore who I was and who I would become. I use the skills I gained from being a part of Quince everyday of my life. There is no doubt that a youth driven production is valuable and one of the things that make Manitowoc a special place to live.

Being in Quince was such a wonderful experience originally I didn't want to stay in it but I did cause that's what my sister Jennifer would have wanted she died in 1993 and was to be producer for Damn Yankees. That year meant so much to me in Quince because the show was dedicated to her. Quince gives the young people of Manitowoc a chance to prove themselves not just as actors but as responsible individuals who look out for one another as a family.

Reading through the memories recorded, I can see that the spirit if Quince hasn't changed in the least. Believe me when I say that these memories will remain dear to you your whole life. It simply was a special time -- no other organization I have joined since has even come close. I think it's due to the fact that it is totally run by kids, so you just *know* in your heart it is "your company". This causes a tremendous pride, and something you will always hold dear. The friendships are closer, the work is taken more seriously, the parties are wilder... need I say more?
On a light note, the first thing I think of pertaining to any Quince function is "is the Reaper gonna get me?" An inside joke only the very old will remember...
The biggest thing I remember about my OWN on-stage predicaments were: Opening night of "Oliver!" having my long dress catch on a nail in the platform Linda Krause and I were walking on, causing me to fall off the 8 foot tall platform and landing center stage, still holding my umbrella, looking much like Mary Poppins. Linda covered it well by saying "guess she's been nipping the gin" or something to that effect.
(And actually having to shower and wash my hair onstage for "South Pacific" while singing "I'm gonna wash that man right out'a my hair" was a rather nerve-wracking experience in itself! That summer was a constant diet! At least I was thin for my wedding a week later!)

I remember last summer during the production of "High Society" when there was a cast party at Ryan's house. I remember all the people that got dressed up in the sumo suits and fought. That was great fun. I also remember getting lost in the woods around 3:00 in the morning and we ended up like 5 blocks away. That was fun:)

Quince is so much fun. I just can't explain how much i've learned from it. I'm going on my fourth season and i'm starting to think about what it's going to be like when i have to leave in 4 years. I don't want to picture my summers without quince. Not only do you learn a lot of valuable things by being in this company, you also learn the meaning of true friendship. It will be hard to leave, but hey I'm not gone yet. I fully intend to enjoy my last few years in quince. My only regret is that i didn't join quince as soon as i turned 12. But still, my head is full of so many memories. Both happy and sad. Who could forget when tyler showed up in drag for dress weird night during "Abner". Evil bunny will forever be immortalized because quincers have great memories when it comes to things like that. "Las Vegas??" that great line from "Abner" that sounded like those salsa commercerials no matter how much Travis tried to get us to not say it like that. "And now its raining" but no actual rain. Ryan's last party when i sumo wrestled mackenzie and beat her. Ryan's party where mackenzie and i talked for 2 hours without even knowing it. "Are those fireworks yours?" "They could be." "Are you all 21 here?" man TR cops are so stupid. Playing truth or truth at Ryan's party during Anything Goes. I could go on and on. So could anyone that has been in quince. I know that i never will forget my time in quince for as long as i live. Let the dream live on!!

Quince memories...where to start. There have been so many and they are all wonderful. If I had to choose a top ten I wold sit and think forever, and never decide. Quince is something very special to me. I remember the first day Naomi called me and said they needed guys. I had never heard of Quince before but after the first day, how could I forget. I remember everyone just being so nice and open and willing to help me out. I made so many friends and I really came out of my little shell. When I think of Quince I remember smiles and laughter and good friends that I would always help out when needed. In my years Quince had pulled me back every year. There is something magical about Quince, something that remains in your heart forever.

Quince brings lots of memories to mind. Some being Tyler, need I say more!, Perkins, Ryan's Parties, the Thong Song, Sarah's party and chasing ghosts! I have to say that was one of my favorites! And definitely, my favorite, getting lost in Newton, or Cleveland, Wherever we were! With Naomi! Not to mention that we almost got lost going to Kwik Trip!Quince has changed my life. I've learned so many new things about theater, acting, dancing, singing, and friendship. In Quince you actually learn the amount of work that it takes to put together a show, you go through tough times and really exciting times! I've learned a lot about responsibility. If one person doesn't get something done, it can affect the whole show, and the only way I learned that is by being a part of it. Quince is the only theater company that gives kids the opportunity to go behind the scenes and take on positions that in most theater groups are done by adults. The best way to learn is hands on!
I've also met a lot of great friends who I miss when we are not in the show and enjoy getting together with. I look up to a lot of people because of performing and just because of who they are... Kim, Ryan, Kari, Travis, and Marsha. They have always been there for me even if I've just met them.
Quince will always mean something to me and I will never forget all the great things it has done for me! Let's keep this company going!

I know I haven't been in Quince as long as some people have, but it doesn't mean it isn't important to me. My favorite memory of PQPC is Ryan's cast party during the "Anything Goes" party. At his party, we lit off fireworks and the fat TR cops came. [Not meant to offend anybody] They asked us, "Are those your fireworks?" "Well they could be." answered Kari as we all laughed. Fortunately we didn't get in any trouble. Times like these you know you've discovered true friends, not just fellow actors. Because the people you are with are you friends, it is much easier to feel at home when you're acting with them. Thank-you Quincers for giving me great memories which will stay with me forever! :o)

I can hardly begin to tell any of you how much quince means to me!! I remember being at Smile Practices with my sister, even before i was old enough to join!!! I also remember being at my first practice of my first quince show, and being SO scared 'cause my sister (who was the choral director) got up in front of everyone and said "this is my little sister, if you mess with her I'll kick you A**." I was afraid to be in Cinderella... alone with no Rachel to help me out...but I had the most fun of my entire life during that show!!! I meet friends who i still have today, and 2 children...lol. I can't single out a certain memory and tell you it was the best, but I can tell you that so many people from this company have changed the way I live my life...for good and bad. And of course I have to say it has been nice to have "big Brother" to look over me...thanks Ryan!

Being elected the first female technical director for the company in 1980 for Oklahoma. Then doing it again in 1981 for Carousel. Being a Quincer has always been a very special part of my life - and I still live by the phrase "You Gotta Believe".

I would just like to say, Quince has changed my life. For me it is hard to imagine, looking back at last summer, that half way through the summer I didn't want to continue in Quince anymore.
Now, Quince is the greatest thing in my life. Through Quince I have met some totally awesome people, and made a lot of new friendships. Quince opened me up, and took me out of my calm shell.
Some of my best memories come from Quince. I mean now, when ever I walk into the Green Room at the Capitol, I think of Adam, "just trying to take a nap", and then there is the famous picture of Burt Backarat(i know i can't spell). I wasn't able to go to Ryan's party last year, so I don't have any memories from that. But I have so many memories from Perkins.
Quince has forever changed my life for the better! Thanks to everyone that had the dream, everyone who has the dream, and Have Fun, to all that the dream will touch!
Love, Happiness, and Quince!

I can't even begin to start to commence telling of my favorite memories from Quince - but I will anyway. Adam getting stuck under the bar was an instant classic. (Your welcome, Adam, for bringing everyone to see that!) Let's see, I'm trying to dig a little here into the actual past. How about set design with Legos? That's a good one. Or late nights at the Kitchen. Hmmm, what about the fact that I only dropped Norah because she jumped while I wasn't looking? Gotta love the traditional Weyenberg Party. And then, of course, Heather always getting the parts that had to change on stage. Coincidence - or something more???

Most people in this city think of children's theatre as something that doesn't require any attention from adults, that it's "just kids". Well in Quince it is just kids, and it's just kids doing everything from working the fly system to designing the costumes. It's wonderful because it doesn't make the performance or company any worse then an adult production. Actually, the experience of Quince helps you learn to be responsible and still lets you have fun. Something magical happens when you join PQPC, and like everybody else says, it keeps drawing you back. Basically all the events and people that made me feel this way are my favorite memories about Quince. Without it i wouldn't have met two of my good friends, adam and cari and i wouldn't look up to some of the who i look up to now, like Ryan and Kim and Travis. I'd sure miss all that fun in the dressing room with my other angels too! And that time when adam got stuck under the bar in the greenroom, hehe. (sorry h! on, i had to) I guess what I'm trying to say is that the little memories of Peter Quince are so cherished that the company and the experience become one whole memory itself... even after only one season.

I remember good times at the Max. I remember not having a dance partner in Cinderella until tech week so Ryan had to be my partner...he dropped me when he was supposed to catch me. Numerous times, thank you. I remember Evil Bunny (thanks, Emily...love reliving the Evil Bunny thing) during Lil' Abner. Or how about running through the cornfield at Ryan's party during Cinderella...or playing Pit and Egyptian Ratscrew at Perkins. Kelly and the bat at the church. Kelly and the bat at the Capitol. The Dance Nazi (Naomi, we started a VERY bad Quince tradition there)...the Music Nazi, all the other various Nazis. Naomi and I having Justin's babies. Being one of the few people in the company left who is actuing friends with Jason Myatt. Playing spin the bottle at Perkins. Corrupting young people. Being on headset during Anything Goes...and having the pit hear EVERYTHING we said. Including what Adam and Suggitt and Ty said about me. I could list a hundred reaso! ns why I love Quince (and if you want, I'll send you the 101 reasons why I love Quince...there are 101 reasons for each season I've been in it...so i guess that's 404 reasons)-- these are just the start. I love everyone in Quince...I can't imagine being who I am today without all of you. Thank all of you for giving me some of the greatest times of my life.

Quince is certainly a company like none of the rest. I've been in shows with other local theatre groups and none of them made me feel so sad yet so happy. Some of my most favorite times have been with quince. One thing that is fairly memorable to me is when I stepped on Naomi's foot the night before opening night. She had to go to the hospital for it and everything(I'm still sorry about that Naomi). And yet she forgave me. People in quince have a certain bond with each other. I just can't explain it. All Quincers, let the dream live on.

Ryan I'm sorry that's really not what I meant in my message about dancing with you. You were a great dancing partner.
That would be so cool if you could have another party. They truly mean a lot. I know they do for me.
I'd just like to say thank you for all the great memories.

Hi Vanessa, I knew your dad as I was one of the original Quincers, the choreographer. He was a full of the joy of life kind of guy when I knew him. Very creative. But the strongest memory I have is that he lent his car to his friend from UW Madison. I rode in your dad's with the friend just out Memorial Dr in Manitowoc from Leslie Kordecki's home there on Lake Michigan. (she was his girlfriend) On the way back a car pulled out of the mall and we hit it broadside. Your dad took me to his home as my parents were out of town that day, on Cleveland Avenue I think it was. That was in the fall of 1969. Michael and his family were all very kind on a bad day for everyone.

I'm looking for info from some of the original alumni out there. The fall after I "retired" from Quince I began my teaching career. Though I'm in Jefferson I've been teaching with Mark Touhey from Manitowoc ever since. He said he never did Quince but knew many of the originals (and did a few Masquers shows as a kid). Hello there Quincers! This semester I am doing a research project/presentation on Community Musical theatre. Being a past member, I am very interested in using Peter Quince as an example as well as a resource. I would be really interested in talking with some of the founders and early members about how the company started and the logistics behind it all. If anyone is willing to help me out with stories or a possible interview about Quince in the early days Please email me at [email protected] Quince is still very dear to my heart; I think it encompasses what Community theatre is all about and would love to share it with the students at UWGB. Thanks! :)

Hi to Jim Panosh, BJ, Lee Garrow,(though I knew your brother Paul better), Kathy Newlin and all the other alums of the first several years. Anyone remember the night of rehearsing in Holy Innocents when the men were landing on the moon? I think I got the rehearsal hall right for that one...
Thanks for the memories on this site. Hope to check back and see maybe a few folks who remember me.

Hi Everyone (or should I say "Aloha", since I live in Hawaii now???)
I've left a few notes on this page before-- now, I'd like to ask if anyone out there was in the 1969 PQPC version of GUYS & DOLLS or the 1970 PQPC version of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF????
If YOU were in either of those shows (or worked on any of the shows that were put on at Lincoln High School at that time), I'd love to hear from you!!! Either leave a note right here on this page-- or email me at [email protected]
I was involved in PQPC during those years (and worked in the Lincoln High productions of THE MOUSE THAT ROARED,and KISS ME KATE)----- it would be sooooo great to hear from some old veterans from those early days!!!!

It was a great reunion for those of us who came, but sure wish there had been a bigger turnout! The current Quincers put on a nice event. There were old photos, past programs, great food and drink, and even a video of interviews, past songs, etc.
I have great memories of my summers in Quince and it's great to see the current group has the same energy and enthusiasm we had.

Hello PQPC players past and present!
What can I say! It sure is special to have a webpage and contact information. I was in Quince late 80's and early 90's it seems like forever ago, but the memories never fade. From Grease to Lucky Stiff we always held the mantra "the show must go on" and it has. I proud of each and every person that has graced the Manitowoc and Two Rivers area Stage (on stage and off) If you found me on this site, drop me an email. I live in Baltimore Maryland and still have the dream of stardom.

That's certainly a step up from the old days when we used to have to use the stage over at the High School!! It all looks so "professional"!!

It has been a while since Bob Bjorklund and I spoke, but I want to express my enthusiastic, if belated, support for a get-together this August at performance time! It would be great to see the real old Quincers again, but equally exciting to experience anew the spirit that PQ has never lost! Kudos to the many participants who kept the idea alive for these many years.
Lynn (Hoge) and I were fortunate enough to be around for the start of PQ - and that resulted in marriage! But being around at that shaky start has even greater meaning now that the company has flourished. Frankly, it never occurred to us that reed's idea might not work!
Looking forward to this summer...

Hey! Bob Bj! And another big "Hey!" to Kathy Newlin!!! So absolutely fantastic to see that you both signed into the the Guest Book. I wrote a note here a few months ago-- but when I saw Bob's suggestion for a get together in Manitowoc (to see the show, and each other) I just had to chime in and say "FANTASTIC IDEA"....
I really miss the days of doing shows at Lincoln High with Mr (Jim) Miller, and Mr.(Bill) Ingvoldstad. AND that fun-loving bunch of actors, theater technicians, and orchestra members... that later BECAME the original Peter Quince Performing Co.
WHO ever would have thought it would still be going strong?????
We NEED to get together to celebrate the OLD and the NEW groups!!!
Love ya all------ Lee Garrow
(P.S.--- Does ANYONE know how I can locate one of our original members?
Back then, her name was Mary Schmidt. I know she married Eric Severson after they graduated from Lincoln. (most of you alumni remember HIM!!)
Sadly, Eric and Mary divorced later on--- so I don't even know what surname to use for a search. Her 2nd husband's name was Stitt--- Soooo... you can see that finding her has been a tough one. Does ANYONE have ANY clues?????
Mary and I were soooo close back in High School! I would love so much to connect with her again.

OK, old Quincers- I'll finally jump in and say hello. And I know that a lot of you other original member-types have been visiting this site but not leaving a message. So... leave a message!!
Current Quincers, you are to be HIGHLY commended for keeping this thing going for all these years. But it's interesting to notice that the last few entries in this log have been by some of my fellow "fifty-somethings." And the reason I think they're checking in is because they realize this whole phenomenon is coming up on 40 years. And there's a whole lot of nostalgia around this for us- really good memories. Which brings up the question: do we try to get together this August in Manitowoc? See this year's show and see each other? And it would have to be something that doesn't stress out the current Quincers- you guys have a show to do that week-end!
Is this doable?
Those were ripe times. Very strong memories. My very best to you all.

I was one of the original members of Peter Quince. Those were fun days! I remember hitting the streets asking local businesses to support something that didn't exist yet. I had to find my own costume for "THE UNSINKABLE MOLLY BROWN", and ended up wearing an old bridesmaid dress of my mother's. We really worked hard to put the show together, and had a great time doing it! I painted sets and worked on stage crew for "GUYS & DOLLS", and acted again in the third show, "FIDDLER ON THE ROOF." I'm so glad to see that you are carrying on the Quince tradition.

Jim was a great friend and mentor of mine and I miss him very much, as I do all of the friends I had during my years with Quince. Friendships are lasting, even in the absence of contact. Good luck to all of you who are lucky enough to be involved in the great company that Peter Quince is.

Hey, PQPC... I love you guys! I'm sure most of you wouldn,t remember me. I got involved (acting) with PQ waaaaay back in late 1969. Geez, none of you would have even been born yet! Oh well, even 39 years later, I still hold fond memories of my time in PQPC. I was in "Fiddler" (the first time PQ ever produced it) and "Guys and Dolls" (starring Jim Ponash and Lynn Hoge-- who later got married in real life) You have to have heard of THEM. Those were the days of Jim Ihde, Bob Bjorkland, Chris Cummmings, Elizabeth Childs (we called her Liz back then. And OF COURSE! Reed Humphrey (the original Founder of PQPCC!!!!
Well...it's a whole new group now-- but I keep seeing certain last names show up on your current membership that are repeats from the early days. Are you guys kids (or grand-kids) of those original members?

Hey all you fellow Quincers!!! It's great to see the website up & running. I was involved in 10 shows of PQPC. But it was 8 years straight. It's been GREAT reading everyone's comments about the years we all have been in Quince. I remember so many fun times & miss it so much. Like the times that we went swinging on the swings in the parks after rehearsal. Or the trips to the Light house to see the car ferry come in. Or the parties, there have were so many!!! Since I was the past alumni relations cordinator several years ago, I need to let you know of some changes on the alumni names. First off, there is only one Gwen Weyenberg, not Gwen Weyenbert or Gewn Weyenberg, just Gwen Weyenberg, but now Gwen (Weyenberg) Peot. Lisa Weyenberg was changed & is listed twice on the page. She is Lisa (Weyenberg) Jacobs. Craig Weyenberg is only one person also, not Craid Weyenberg or whatever else that is listed. Dawn (Aumann) Weyenberg should be changed to Dawn Aumann (she has kept her maiden name). And the picture that has Kelly P. and myself listed with the hot dog stand, please put her name as Kelly Peterson. I would appreciate these changes!!! I can't wait for another PQPC reunion, the 25th was a blast!!! The 30th was pretty fun too, but the 25th was the best!!! Congrats on the success!! Keep up the good work!! We are so happy to no longer be exiled in IL, now enjoying a vibrant arts environment in La Crosse, which includes a significant amount of beer. Since I don't drink, I leave that to my "designated drinker".
I'm thrilled to see PQPC survive, in one form or another, quoting another alum,"... keeping the dream alive." There is a prolific community theater organization and 2 college-based, all quite active. Ever since Kelly played these parts in different Mundelein, IL community theatre's Kirk Players, as
* the voice of god,
* a walk-on lesbian classmate,
* a retired hooker,
I have my Quince memories & we're making new ones with her roles.

I am also quite pleased there is at least ONE picture of me in a dress on the site and none of when I dyed my hair for Birdie. One thing I learned as a Quincer is men with facial hair shouldn?t color it with waterproof mascara. It NEVER comes out. Ever. I also learned how to waltz, which has come in handy more than once (I am a waltzing maniac). These are the life lessons we can all stand to learn, and I don?t know of a better place to do so then Quince. Good times.

Last two pictures in your "unknown" photo's are from "South Pacific" or the show just after. I don't remember all of the guy's names, but the one on the far left is Howard something and the next to last one on the far right is James Scheutte (sp). Check the program. The last photo is of the director, Sara(h)(?) and I think the choreographer, You may want to check the program for "original" of these photos.
I think that is great that the organization continues and I know that it has had rough times. I do wish however, that the organization would think further into the future than just the next season. At 35 I would have expected the organization to have grown to have a "subdivision" that does a small straight show in addition to the musical, or that there would be more than one show per season -- a revolving repetory of some kind. I have fond memories of the time I spend with PQPC but alway wished it was a little more than it was. I think you could grow in to an organization that was much more widely known and "professionally" respected.

As an addendum on the article on Peter Quince that we published in our August 2002 issue of Vital Source - This came in past deadline, so alas, it wasn't included in the article, but I can share it with you.
"At 35, Peter Quince is now about twice the age that we were when we started the Company. As I look back on it now, there were an awful lot of leaps of faith that took place that summer?Reed put up his own money to rent scripts and pay royalties, convinced that somehow we would break even; I figured that I could recruit and conduct a pit orchestra, though I?m not sure that I had ever actually seen a live one; and a bunch of local businesses agreed to sponsor a new venture that had no track record and was run entirely by teenagers. I?m so proud to see that the members of Quince have taken their own leaps of faith through the years, and that the community continues to support their dreams".

Wow! It never occurred to me that Peter Quince would have a website. I was in Quince in the 80's (Carousel, Dames at Sea, The Boyfriend). Would love to hear from Quincers from that time!

Sharing some recent email with all of you:
Hello, my name is Josh Lardinois. I am lighting designer at the Southern Door Community Auditorium and am writing on behalf of a group of production crew members. We came down on August 16th for opening night of Peter Quince's prouction of "Crazy For You." Coincidentally, we watched the show because the high school will be doing that November 7-10.
We would like to applaud you on your fine facility, and the production itself was very enjoyable. It was great to finally see a show instead of having to produce it. As I said, we would like to compliment the performers, crews, and volunteers on such a great effort. Could you please pass that along to them?
In addition, we are extending an invitation to see the show that runs November 7-10. If there is a group that would like to come, I will work on getting a deal for a number of tickets. Thank you very much!
Lighting Designer,
Josh Lardinois

Wow! Am I ever impressed by your web site - thank you to current Quincers for keeping the enthusiasm going for what must be the most unique "amateur" theater company in the country. I was in The Boyfriend and Pajama Game (thanks for putting me in the shows James and Tim!) and helped out on a few other shows too - and I remember every little thing with tenderness and love. Maybe I've forgotten most of the heartaches (in my old age) but I won't forget what a wonderful time I had. I hated to turn 22 and say goodbye.
ONE QUESTION THOUGH: Where the heck are all you Quincers from the early 80'S??!!!!!! Does anyone else remember doing our routine to Flashdance's "What a Feeling" on the lawn of the funeral home? You know who you are! I bet I could still do that dance. I miss you all.
To current Quincers: I am looking forward to seeing "Crazy for You" on opening night. Believe it or not - it's my 9th wedding anniversary and we're celebrating by coming to see your show. "Break a leg!"

I was touched and honored to see this site. My work with PQPC is a very fond memory. I was reminded of the show "Oliver" recently when Steve Reed came back to the area to perform in "Kiss Me Kate" at the Weidner Center. The following weekend I ran into Tom and Laurie Berkedal at the Bradley Center (they were sitting across the aisle from me) and we started to reminisce about Oliver.
I'm glad to see that PQPC is still a vital organization and another generation is keeping the dream alive.

Wow! This is amazing! Last time I looked for the remnants of the old site (about four years ago), there was nothing left! I was a memeber starting in Leader of the Pack and going through Bye Bye Birdie. Quince created some of the best summer memories...and I'll leave it at that. ;) I agree with Debi...we old fogies (Ha!) need to get together some time. The last Quincer I've seen was Becky (Gosz) Deane...and I had to travel across the big pond to see her! Definitely been way too long! Maybe I'll take a couple days vacation to see the show this summer.

Hello fellow Quincers! I found this site while playing on "google.com", in searching out friend's names. I then did a search on Jim Ihde, to see if he showed up anywhere since I know he was involved with the Performing Arts Center here in Milwaukee. Imagine my surprise when this website appeared! (Due to the dedication to Jim.)
Being a Quincer has always been one of the fondest memories of my life. I was a member for 7 years, starting with their 3rd production, "Fiddler On The Roof" as the youngest daughter of Tevya and ending with "South Pacific" as Ensign Nellie Forebush. It would have been my last year to be involved since we used to only let members be involved through their 21st year (I see you go 12-23 now - we were 13 thru 21 back then, I believe), so I would have been booted out due to old age anyway, but I sealed the deal by getting married one week after that last production. Needless to say, it was a very busy last summer, as I also worked full-time at Milwaukee Savings Bank.
I am tickled to death that you have this website up, with all the information, old and new. The original founding members, all of who were friends of mine, would be so proud. Keep up the excellent work, and BREAK A LEG!

Hi! I was in Peter Quince's Musical Chairs and Lucky Stiff. I came back and directed "Smile" and it was a blast. I was in town this summer and had my mom's suburban washed by the car wash run by you all. It was really great to see all the people involved in the group! Good luck! I live in New York City and the theater community is struggling, but it's good to know that theater is going strong in good ol' Manty. Let me know if there's anything an old 25-year old like me can do!

The site is wonderful! It stirred up so many memories for me! I would also like to congratulate the entire board and company for keeping the wonderful tradition of PQPC alive. I really miss those summers consumed by Quince functions, whether it was going to rehersals and board meetings, spending late nights building costumes and scenery, or, of course, drinking coffee until the wee hours of the morning (because we were all too young to drink, ahem). But I digress...
Keep up the wonderful work....and don't forget about your alumni.

Well well well!!! Hey there PQPC its PQTC here! We are a theatre company (peter Quince theatre company) based in Somerset, England... I was looking for our website (as yet unfinished) and stumbled upon a theatre company with the same name as us, how bizarre!
We are a group consisting of 6 core members and another 15 ish on the periferies. We are all studying, or have graduated from Arts related courses including theatre dance, media arts and Sculpture around England.
We have been established for 2 and a half years now and have made two consequetive visits to the Edinburgh fringe festival in Scotland...
We have performed a couple of cript based shows such as Journeys end and Our Country's good, but our main core of work is based around devisinfg and workshopping towards performance.
We began working together about ten years ago under another company (as we were only eleven) who got us into theatre and took us to Spain and Portugal to perfrom and learn about theatres in other cultures...great stuff! I myself have graduated from university having done a degree i theareand I am now on the scout for a job! All exciting stuff.
Write back and let me know what you guys are doing and i look forward to hearing from you !!

Hey Quincers. Most of you probably don't even know who I am, but I came to the Quince party in 1973 (along with Steve Reed) as a workhouse boy in "Oliver" and stayed on in one form or another until "The Wizard of Oz" in 1987, making it a total of 14 years of sweet summer insanity. In that time, I saw Quince rollercoaster from spectacular to passable with no seeming rhyme or reason. But the one thing that remained constant was the dedication. And the friendships. I practically had to be dragged kicking and screaming from the company. I loved my time in Quince more than college, way more than high school and more than a lot of my professional life. I now live in New Jersey, 27 miles out of NYC. For money, I'm the managing editor of a vintage and antique poster auction house. But I still can't give up on the dream. I love theater and Quince cultivated and nurtured that maddening seed. I've been heavily involved in the alternative, downtown, off-off-off-off-off-off-Broadway theater scene for 7 years now, making 0 money but loving every second of it. This summer, I have a musical being produced in The New York International Fringe Festival called "Babes and Dudes" which had it's first reading in the upstairs living room at 1213 S. 14th Street over a decade ago, executed by a batch of ex-Quincers. I'm not tootin' my horn here. All I'm saying is that the dream is worth it. Never stop reaching for it. This site is spectacular and I only wish that I had documented my life better so that I could contribute more. Glad that someone finally gave Quince the credit that was long overdue. If any of you want to email an old 35-year old fart for whatever reason,

HEY QUINCERS! All right for keeping everything going there and for keeping a WWWeb site posted! I know it can take a lot of work! I am an OOOOOOOLLLLLDDDDDD Quincer from 1973 ('Oliver') and 1981 ('The Boyfriend') or was it '82?. I have stayed performing since my shows ith Quince and I now live in NYC. I have done 6 Broadway shows by now and a couple of video things also. It is a CRAZY profession but sure can be fun! Just thought I would drop a note and let you know if you have any questions about working in the theatre for a living, feel free to me an email. Another ex-Quincer here also lives here, James Schuette. He has Graduated from the Yale school of drama and worked on Sat. Night Live for years as Assistant Costume designer. So IT CAN BE DONE! OK! Break a LEG with next season and I'll keep sending checks of support as long as you all keep cranking it out! Oh, and I was just on a PBS Great Performances Presents 'CRAZY FOR YOU' this last week. It was Gershwin that I did on Broadway about 5 years ago and we just retaped it for PBS. In case you saw it I was the one with the dark hair always shooting the gun. Best of luck! Steve Reed

I stumbled across this website and thought I'd say hello to all of my fellow Quincers out there. I too have fond memories of the short time I was involved with Peter Quince back in the early 70's. I was fortunate enough to be President of Peter Quince the year that Jim Ihde Produced "Oliver", and was the Pruducer of "West Side Story" the following year, a show that was directed by Jim.

Finally, I'd like to say "Hi" to all those 'old' members... if you see this message (and possibly remember me) give me a "Hi" back on this site-- I would LOVE it! Bye for now, and "Break a Leg"

And long live Peter Quince!!!!!!

Hello, fellow thespians! I was once a Quincer as well. It was a short-lived involvement. I played the very pink beauty pageant queen Sandra Kay MacAffee in SMILE! I was sort of sad to see there were no pics or info from that show. Maybe I can dig some up. God knows there were plenty of hideous 80's outfits just dying to be captured on film. I still think back fondly on that show, including the Lambchop puppet. Best of luck to all in future shows!

What a delight to find this site! Perhaps I can devote my full attention to this, rather than opening unsolicited "shrub's" campaign materials.
Ever since Kelly played these parts in different Mundelein, IL community theatre's Kirk Players, as
* the voice of god,
* a walk-on lesbian classmate,
* a retired hooker,
I have my Quince memories & we're making new ones with her roles.
I just play bass.

I look forward to seeing my friends in PQPC almost more than my classmates at Lincoln reunions. My friends were not all in the class of '89 and they were also not all graduates of Lincoln High! Debi

I'd been here before and thought it looked great! I believe at that point I sent an email. Just wanted to share that while I am currently not part of any musical theater I do miss it terribly! I have three children that take up the time I used to spend on MYSELF. Keep up the hard work! I'll try and find old pics and programs for some of the shows you are missing.

Glad to see PQPC is still up and running. Seems from everyone's comments that Quince is as it always was.
Nice web site.

Hi, this is Brad's friend Carrie ;-) I just wanted to tell all of the members of Quince what an awesome performing arts group you are. I enjoyed being able to come and meet the few of you I did. Your performance was awesome and I hope to see you guys again next summer, depending on Brad, of course...He might get a job, who knows ;-) I know he wants another season with you guys. Who wouldn't? You seem to have so much fun. Well, anyway, keep up the great work ....I was really impressed, I know it takes a lot of devotion and love for what you do. Hope to see you next summer!!!!!!

My brother and I were Quince members in 1969 & 70. It was great then, and I think it's still a great organization! Keep up the good work! I think it's wonderful that it's lasted all these years!!

Steve Reed
